Venture Daimler CVD6 (1947)

Venture was a Consett based company serving north County Durham with routes running into Newcastle upon Tyne. It used to be the largest independent running into the city. A major fleet renewal took place between 1946 and 1948 with the purchase of 60 Daimler single deck vehicles including this preserved example on an outing to Newcastle seen in August, 2000. It sports a Daimler 8.4 litre diesel engine with fluid flywheel and 4 speed pre-selector Wilson epicyclical gearbox. It has a 35 seat Willowbrook body. These vehicles were withdrawn in 1964.
See a similar example during operational days.
